Welcome to Akuma no Senshi cast and information page! My hopes is that this page will cover all the details that you may have about this theme here on Battle Fantasia. It is an Original Concept Theme and open for people to take up the slots that are available. For those of you who are interested in playing one of the characters. You may speak with me (Hotaka Domen) and we can go over what you have in mind. I love sharing ideas, concepts, and beating around things. So no worries on me biting, I'm a pretty laid back individual!

The only request I do have is if you have spoken to me already about your idea for a character concept, is for me to see the Application before you send it in. Mostly so I can see how your character plays and make sure everything is riding fine with the theme. Also so that Alastor (Hotaka's Demon), knows who you are and isn't to caught off guard. After all-- we are all one big "happy" Family. ;)

The Origin Story

The Beginning

In a kingdom high on a mountain, hidden amongst the clouds, was a place of beauty and serenity. The chosen were trained in the arts of combat and in the ways of magic. Each child picked had the potential to become a guardian, and each had the ability to one day become what was known as "Solstice Guardian Angels".

The Solstice Guardian Angels were an order that watched over the grove of each season. The grove held within it a majestic crystal flower that illuminated brightly and granted the chosen a crystal from its bud. However, the crystal flower would only choose 3: the head of the Grove, the Solstice Guardian Angel, and then two below. One Ascending and One Descending to work with the head of the grove.

Though there were those who desired to the powers of the flower for evil means, the guardians never allowed evil to corrupt the grove nor take possession of the flower itself. Many guardians gave their lives in protection of the kingdom and the grove, but the flower always chose a new guardian to take their place. It is perhaps here with the death of one and the rebirth of the next that corruption was at last born in the Kingdom of the Seasons.

A brother was picked over his twin and jealousy was soon grown. For not only was his sister a ascending guardian, but now too was his own twin. The two twins who were ever so close, grew further apart in the new guardians training and the twin who had been ignored soon left the Kingdom of the Seasons. Leaving it to allow his brother to the glory of becoming a the head of the Grove chosen; The Grove of Summer. Though the twin was sad to see his brother leave, he did not stop him. Believing that perhaps when his twin returned, his jealousy may be gone and he would find love once more in his heart; love and understanding.

How wrong he was...

The Start Of The End

Though evil had never truly been able to step foot into the Kingdom of Seasons, soon the light would start to be slowly drained from the kingdom of beauty and serenity. Peace would soon to come to know war and pain. Since the twin had left his brother and his sister. Neither have heard of him. What was more concerning was that though some children would explore the world below, many started to not return and shortly to follow this concern was the rise of darkness below. The rise of demonic beings with equal power to some of the guardians in training.

Yet these demons could easily, thankfully, be dispatched by the guardians. Though with the increased activity rose some of the Solstice Guardian Angels attentions. For what had been easy sway, was starting to become an increasing problem. That if something was not done soon, they could be looking at a potential, true threat to the Kingdom and the people within. Then the fact with it growing closer to the new year. They could not afford an interruption to the ceremony of seasons.

An Ascending and Descending Guardian Angel was then chosen to go investigate the source of the growing darkness. They were to then report back any findings at once. One of the Ascending guardians was the sister to the Solstice Guardian Angel of Summer, and they both had a concern. With no contact from their brother-- they grew some concern that he may have been killed. So for them both, this was a chance to see if there was any sign of him at all, and the Solstice Ascending Angel of Winter represented her element well with hope and the believe that they would find him.

How right she was, but how wrong she wished. For when they went to investigate, they not only found that magical children had taken to the dark arts, but to gain more power they were slowly being transformed into demonic creatures. All in the name of their lord and master, Demon Lord Equinox. At the arrival of the Solstice Ascending Angel of Winter and Solstice Descending Angel of Spring. He quickly took arms against them personally and a battle broke out between the two and him.

Though the Solstice Descending Angel of Spring was able to escape with barely her life, the Ascending Guardian Angel remained in realizing who the Demon Lord was. She tried to find out why he would turn on them, even speak some common sense into him. However what she quickly found is that he only desired one thing and that was revenge. Revenge upon the Grove and that he would bend the seasons to his will, not of the peoples or of the worlds.

Ascending Winter tried one more time to reach out to him, however in her final attempt, he reached out to her in the hand of corruption and twisted her very will of Hope into Despair in showing her his entire plan and how he would be victorious. With no desire left to continue to the conflict, the Guardian Angel laid down her weapon and submitted to him.

The very gem given to her became corrupted by her will breaking and she too was then changed with the stone, losing not only her humanity, but soon-- becoming a demon herself; One of the first of the Demon Warriors under Equinox's full command.

On the news of the new Demon Lord, more guardians were sent out. The Ascending and Descending and each one that went, fewer returned. What soon become an alarming factor was that the very crystal flowers themselves were starting to lose their illumination. The petals were slowly closing up, with the very groves themselves slowly dying.

So the Solstice Guardian Angels would send no more, because unlike the past where one of them would fade away and a new would be chosen, no new guardian angel was being selected. It was a mystery of what was happening and all they could speculate on was that whoever the puppet master was behind these attacks was somehow capturing their Ascending and Descending. This now meant that they must let the battle come to them after all and on eve of the New Year-- it would be decided.

The New Year War

Marching upon the roads to the Kingdom of Seasons came the demonic creatures, with the Demon Warriors moving along side and at the very head was the Demon Lord Equinox himself. The Kingdom of Seasons locked up its doors, moving the citizens inside and readied all who could fight.

The four Solstice Guardian Angels hovered above the walls, with the trainees at ready, and with the cry of the Demon Lord. The demonic beings and Demon Warriors raced for the very gates of the Kingdom of Season. The battle raged that eve before the New Year. neither made ground and neither would be victorious. Those loses on both sides were heavy and the Solstice Guardian Angel of Summer found himself going toe to toe with the very Demon Lord himself. His own two blades clashing with the Demon Lord's own. The very sky rang with auras of sparks of magic at each of their swords impacted and even they could not gain ground over the other.

As the bell though rang of the new year. The demonic beings soon left the grounds and the Demon Warriors took those who were to weak to even fight back to be 're-educated'. When the sun started to rise, is when the Solstice Guardian of Summer realized that though they had protected the Kingdom and her people, they had failed in other ways. Many of the trainees had been taken, the ascending and descending were all gone and only he and Autumn remained.

The groves themselves had lost their light, with only his own and Autumns remaining a small bit of their light. Though Autumn felt they can turn this around, Summer could only sense the winds of change upon them. That though the seasons would remain unchanged, with their guardians the meanings of them could suffer, but Autumn's words though spoke true. Though unchanged-- at least they were not corrupted. Because so long as the two of them remained, the seasons would be protected still.

The Damnation

Things have become quiet and with the lack of guardians, a council was formed in its stead. A temporary measure at best in order to continue some form of organization for the Kingdom. Training continued as well, creating now what was known as Seasonal Angels in order to help maintain some sense that everything was still in order, but in truth, all knew it. Things were not the same.

However during one of the scouting's, Solstice Guardian Angel of Summer came into contact with one of the Demon Warriors. What was strange on the encounter was she did not desire to fight, but to talk. One of the Season angels expressed concern for this, but Summer ordered them to continue their rounds as he spoke with the Demon Warrior.

She ended up providing him with information of a future attack, including possible plans. When he asked her why he should believe her. She stated she was growing tired of seeing the pain and that she knows, that in his heart, he knows she speaks the truth. Summer then took the information and investigated further, to only find the truth behind her words was indeed there. With her aid, he was able to stop an invasion, protect several travelers and even chase off one of the Demon Warriors. This contact between the two continued on and for that year, peace was at least felt in the Season of Kingdoms. Yet a growing conflict was starting to happen between Autumn and Summer..

Autumn feared that Summer could be making the wrong choices, that he was being tricked, used, and if he was not careful, she feared that they may try to capture him. Like the others. Yet Summer was sure though that would not happen. He felt in his heart that the Demon Warrior could be turned around. That he could see it in her eyes that she wasn't a monster, there was something in her that could be redeemed and they should at least try before condemning them all.

Frustrated by Summer's refusal to listen, Autumn then took command of one of the patrols and decided to confront the Demon Warrior herself to find out what type of game she was up too. This was a crucial mistake. The Demon Warrior that Summer had been working with quickly rushed to the gates, placing herself in jeopardy, yelling for his name. Summer had to quickly stop the attacks and listen to what she had to say as she quickly embraced him in a tight hug, crying at that. Explaining to him that she couldn't stop the other Demon Warriors and that they had taken his friend to their Lord.

Summer quickly took flight, not even asking for assistance, because he believed with the Demon Warrior's help he had fallen in love with, that she could get him through. Which she did and continued to show her faithfulness to him. Once they arrived, it was already to late for Autumn, but worse, he got to see how the Demon Warriors came to be. How the very gem they were gifted was corrupted into evil. It was here that he realized that each of the Demon Warriors was once his own friends and even meant one of them was his own sister.

It was the first crack in his heart, but one he could ignore. Though as he tried to yell out to Autumn to stop herself from falling and giving himself away. He tried to use the female Demon Warrior he had fallen in love with as an example to her that things could be turned around. Only to hear Equinox laugh from above and clap his hands telling his twin brother a job well done, which is then when Summer realized just who the Demon Lord was, which was another crack in his heart.

The two shared their words and then when he asked for the female Demon Warrior to fight with him, that they could end this together, he found out the alarming truth as she slammed her spear right into his shoulder, causing him to drop one of his swords. Slowly pushing him to his knees. The very truth being that he was alone here. There was never any love between them and it was then, looking into her eyes, did he see that Autumn was right. She was using him. Tricked him and while he was here chasing a trap, the Kingdom of Seasons was now not even properly armed. That the other Demon Warriors were taking full advantage of this.

In his rage, he lashed out. Each strike he swung out was not meant with carrying or with love, but sheer hatred, rage, and anger. As he tried to cut down each one of them to make his way to his once twin brother. Bit by bit his own power was being corrupted. For each demonic being he struck down, for even impaling his blade through who was once Autumn and then his final swing at Equinox. His own angelic armor had started to become black and his form was becoming twisted by his rage.

Equinox allowed the blade to bite in. He allowed his eyes to meet his once twins and could only smile. For when Summer removed his sword, he crashed down to his knees, and like so many, had forgotten his reasons for being here or even his reasons for attacking-- his Lord.

Soon the Kingdom of Season fell into the decay with the darkness that swept over it. Equinox with his Demon Warriors capturing the citizens that had been there to twist them all and the Demon Lord himself taking each of the flowers carefully into his possession. It was with these very closed crystal flowers that he would take command of the meaning to the seasons for with them and the gems, the Demon Lord knew that now not even time could stop him.

From the base of the mountain did the Demon Lord build his new empire under the shadows of the old kingdom he once called and as time progressed and the world grew, so did Equinox. For under the very command of the meaning of seasons. He built his empire on the people's need of merchandise and meaning to events. Corrupting the day of giving to the day of taking. Corrupting the day to be thankful, to the need of greed. It was all a slow process but one that he enjoyed every moment of and for his Demon Warriors-- He contracted them off to a man who was looking for power to protect his family. Making it so his Demon Warriors, though in spirit, could continue to always be by his side-- and at the very use of the very Dark Fall.

What Was The "Solstice Guardian Angels"?

The Solstice Guardian Angels (or simply known as Solstice Angels) were a group who protected the meaning of the four seasons from their home known as the Kingdom of Seasons. They were young boys and girls who were raised understanding the magical properties of the world, the knowledge of what the seasons represented, and taught the ritual of the new year to continue to bring forth the prosperity of those seasons.

In the order of the Solstice Angels there are 3 tiers of authority. You have the Solstice Guardian Angels themselves at the top, one for each grove that holds the crystal flower of their season. Under the Solstice Guardian Angels is a Solstice Ascending Angel and a Solstice Descending Angel. Those of the Ascending and Descending are like the Guardians' second in command and aid in watching over the grove and the crystal flower.

Though the Guardian is typically the strongest, neither the Ascending nor the Descending are pushovers either, for they all have had the same training. There has been times, though rare, that the Ascending or Descending have proven stronger than the Guardian. Yet, none are judged on their physical stature or magical power when chosen by the season, but by the inner spirit of the person and how closely they represent the very element of that season.

How Were They Chosen?

The groves choose the Solstice Angel by the power of the Crystal Flower. The Crystal Flower creates a small gemstone bead, known as the "Dew Crystal", which finds its new Solstice Angel and bestows its power onto them. This choosing only takes place when a Solstice Angel dies in battle or when they become unable to continue their duty to the Grove and to the Kingdom.

What Are The Groves?

The Groves are where the Crystal Flowers were once kept. During the time of Kingdom of Seasons, long in the past, each Grove held the Crystal Flowers of their Season. One of Summer, one for Winter, one for Spring, and one for Autumn. The light of the sun and the moon always reflected upon the crystal flower, illuminating the area with brilliant colored light for their season.

Flowers bloomed here under this light, along with different types of planet life. The grove was a place of calm for the Solstice Angels, many of whom would visit to reflect, meditate, practice their form, or even spar a friendly fight.

Once the Kingdom of Seasons fell and the Solstice Angels were corrupted, the groves became a simple piece of lost history, dead and abandoned along with the Kingdom itself.

What Do The Seasons Represent?

Each of the four seasons had meaning in the Kingdom of Seasons. It was these very things that the Solstice Angels attempted to protect and it was these very things that have been (and still are being) corrupted since the fall of the Solstice Angels and the Kingdom of Seasons.

• Spring:

Spring represents the emotion of Courage, colored Orange. Those who were of Spring proved to have unmatched strength of will in the face of any adversity, even though many were considered too hot-headed, foolishly fearless, or overly ready for battle. In the corrupted form of Fear, they use doubt and inner struggles to break the will of their target beyond the point of no return.

• Summer:

Summer represent the emotion of Love, colored Red. Those who were of Summer displayed compassion and leadership, forgiveness and friendship given without a second thought, and was often considered the strongest of the four seasons overall. In the corrupted form of Hatred, they stir the fires of hatred and spite to spark rage in someone's heart.

• Autumn:

Autumn represents the emotion of Charity, colored Yellow. Those who were of Autumn were generous and selfless, always ready and willing to aid another anytime and anywhere. Their strength was not in offense, but in support. In the corrupted form of Greed, they twist natural wants and desires into envy and covetousness to the point that only the needs of the self matter at the expense of all else.

• Winter:

Winter represents the emotion of Hope, colored Blue. Those who were of Winter were peaceful, wise, and gentle--the light at the end of a dark path. They mastered magic to bring smiles to those around them, leaving the physical arts to the other Seasons. In the corrupted form of Despair, they instill sorrow and depression in those they meet, fostering apathy and procrastination.

Who Are The Demon Warriors?

The Demon Warriors are fallen Solstice Angels, once the protectors of the Kingdom of Seasons and the very Seasons they represented. The Demon Lord Equinox was able to corrupt each of the Solstice Angels, twisting these once magical boys and girls into mockeries of their true power.

The Demon Warriors themselves have no conscious memory of their past, whatever rare snippets they may catch in moments of rest are hazy and indistinct. The actions of a person around their host, or even their host themselves, may spark such a moment of recollection. They are known for their loyalty to the Dark Fall and to their master, Demon Lord Equinox. Over the generations they have had many bodies they have taken over, many battles they have seen, but only recently have a few become curious about these nostalgic images.

Why Do The Demon Warriors Bind To A Human?

Unlike their Demon Lord, the Demon Warriors still aged and could die from natural causes, and the Demon Lord Equinox sought a means to circumvent this. The answer came long ago, several generations in the past, when a young man wanted to protect his family from the monsters that plagued the land. Equinox sensed the desperation and took advantage of it, creating a contract with the human man by giving him the power of one of his Demon Warriors.

Once the man's family was safe, Equinox then initiated the next part of the contract, the fine print of which was not adequately read by the desperate man. The man and his four children were immediately and permanently bound to one of the Demon Warriors, and it was written that their entire family line would be cursed for ages to come. This process of binding would take place instantly at the age of 16, as a young teen is neither adult nor child and their vulnerability at this stage of their life makes it easy for the Demon Warriors to take advantage and even take full control.

This binding, once evoked, is marked not only by a special tattoo found on the body representing to that Demon Warrior, but also by a piece of jewelry. Some have a black bracer around the wrist, others a black choker around the throat--but both are inscribed with the demon's name etched into it by the demonic language itself. The tattoos and the written words in the jewelry glow gently at times with the Demon Warrior's original Solstice Angel colors.

Thus the problem was solved for the Demon Lord, as the contract binding this cursed family line ensured that the Demon Warriors could live on and serve their master throughout the ages. Now with their souls moving from one host to the next, they too have become somewhat ageless beings.

Who is Demon Lord Equinox?

Demon Lord Equinox was a young man once of the Kingdom of Seasons who was stronger than nearly all and trained harder than most. But no matter how hard he trained, he watched his twin brother and sister both become a Solstice Angels yet ignore him. His jealousy led him to reject the Kingdom of Seasons and leave, subsequently leading him to study the dark arts. His newfound powers of a Demon Lord also granted him the ability to corrupt the Solstice Angels, thus binding them to his very service.

The Demon Lord Equinox is a force to be reckoned with. He possesses all of the Dew Crystals and even the Crystal Flowers themselves. He has become ageless and portrays himself as an immortal being. He has had generations upon generations to practice his dark arts and craft himself a place in the human world. Today, he sits easily at the head of a Mega-corporation that produces holiday goods for each season. The corporation’s headquarters is actually built in the shadow of the Kingdom of Season’s mountain, which is part of his private property. No trespassers are allowed.

Equinox's desire is to corrupt the four seasons completely, utterly, and irrevocably. Turning values into corruption, twisting the hearts of all mankind into darkness to become demons themselves. Yet he plays the long game, as such evil deeds are progressed very slowly as they always have. He has endless supply of time, and he has the patience to wait for the fall of light as the darkness rises. So while his Demon Warriors aid in chaos for the Dark Fall, he enjoys a glass of fine wine, rich dining, and watches the world turn slowly into his dark desire.

The Road To Redemption?

The Road to Redemption is traversed with good intentions, though a slippery slope to climb. The Demon Warriors can one day be redeemed, but to do so is not easy and a task that is hard to follow. The strength of their corruption and their memory loss are major hurdles to overcome, and the path of light is hard to find. Most do not desire to change, content or outright enjoying what they have become.

Yet if a Demon Warrior is willing and the host still has enough will of their own to reject the darkness, there is a chance that the Demon Warrior could be redeemed. Their soul would be set free and their Solstice Angel powers given to the former host to continue the forgotten legacy. The soul of the redeemed Angel could even desire to remain with the host if the bond is strong enough, granting them the inner teamwork to battle evil together. Thus the former freed Solstice Angel becomes a guiding voice of light, instead of the corrupting whisper of darkness as a Demon Warrior.

However, there is always a price to pay and the Demon Lord Equinox will not be blind to one who is attempting to break away. By choosing the path of light once more, even by merely discovering how to do so, the crystal flower of their Season will start to ignite with light and slowly start to open. This provides a warning to Equinox that someone under that season is attempting to return to their original ways, and he is quite capable of tightening his hold over that Demon Warrior even more.

So if you seek the path to Redemption to become one of light again, remember that you will need friends to help you along your way. The more friends you have to help you walk the path, the greater the likelihood of success when the Demon Lord comes to stop you.

What is the Process to be Redeemed?

The Process of Redemption is a long one. The Demon Warrior has to eventually realize that the hazy images of dreams are not dreams at all, but their own memories. Their host must still have enough will and awareness to be separate from their Demon Warrior, and both host and demon need to have decent enough relationship to work together. Lacking that, the human host must have a strong desire to just be rid of the demon within and thus be freed of the contract. This must be stronger than the will of the Demon Warrior.

This process is done by roleplay, participating in scenes no matter how large or small. It is not something that can be done within a set timeframe, but requires time and interaction with others. You must remember while trying to redeem yourself, that the Demon Warrior is evil and thus it will easily fall back into natural habits. You could say that this evil nature is what drags one back down and why they must climb ever harder. This is why friendship with those of light is very important, because it is the nature of good that can be the helping hand to get over some of the hard parts of the path. It is by the act of kindness and the memory of what their original season was-- those feelings-- that can reignite the old spark.

For instance, those of Winter would need to experience hope again, where they want to believe in the light at the end of the darkness. Or one of Summer need to express true compassion for another that cannot be hand-waved away by a whim.

Just remember, even if all goes well and you are ready to make that final step, Equinox will be there. He will try all in his power to drag you right back down every chance he gets if he can still get a good hold on you.

Theme Information

The Primer

Long ago there was a place hidden high on a mountain, in the clouds, known as the Kingdom of Seasons. The Grove, a field of mystical crystal flowers that was the heart of the land’s power, chose its guardians of the seasons from the children of this land and bestowed upon them the titles of Solstice Guardian Angels. The peaceful land was blind to the growing darkness beyond its borders, unaware of the Demon Lord’s corruption that entered the groves and twisted the guardians into mockeries of their strengths and virtues, until it was far too late. Once the corruption was complete, the Demon Lord turned his corrupting influence into the world at large, beginning with the fall of a specific family line into vessels for his Demon Warriors and branching out from there in the subsequent generations. However, hope may still yet bloom as what has fallen into corruption could yet be redeemed.

Organization Connections: Dark Fall

Demon Lord Equinox is loyal to the Dark Fall. He desires to corrupt humanity and ensure their eventual destruction from within their own society. Devious, deceptive, and with all the time in the world, he lends his Demon Warriors as assistance to the wills and desires of the Dark Fall. While he remains in the background to oversee his own agenda and games, the Demon Warriors have proven to be loyal servants to the Dark Fall and their leaders. Thus, unless Equinox issues specific orders to his loyal minions, he allows them to do as they see fit and to be used however necessary for the deeds of Dark Fall.

PoP: Artifact

All those who are bound to a demon warrior have an artifact which contains the power to allow them to transform themselves. These artifacts are either a cuff bracelet around the arm or a choker, with runic tattoo markings near skin color moving along the arm of the cuff bracelet or around the neck to back from the choker (sometimes up the side of the face instead).

PoP: Legacy

Those chosen to become demon warriors find their roots going back several generations to one family line. This family line was the first to make a pact with the Demon Lord Equinox, binding them to the contract and their children after.

PoP: Contract

The Contract was the pact formed with the Demon Lord Equinox. He needed children of the age of 16 to become suitable vessels for his Demon Warriors to extend their lives alongside him. So for each child of that family line who becomes 16 has a chance to become a Demon Warrior. Not by choice, but by a twisted destiny forged by the ancient contract.

NPC'ed Cast

There is only one (currently) NPC'ed Cast. This individual is Demon Lord Equinox (Haruko Warden). He is a NPC type character used for plot points, when someone decides to be "naughty", and for use of seasonal events (due to his corporation's nature). If you are interested in using Equinox for something, please contact me (Hotaka Domen) and we can discuss what you like to do with him.

I may change this ruling one day and make him a full time playable character, but for now (and with Staff's OK), I am keeping him an NPC just due to how important of a role he plays.
