Kasagami Araki

OOC - IC Date:

2018-06-13 - April 25th, 2015

Kasagami Araki struggles and screams in her binds. Pain is the only thing vaguely keeping her in a semi-conscious state as the Book of Darkness draws them all in. It's a futile and worthless struggle in vain, but the young woman is nothing if not stubborn to a fault. Black dots solidify into a sheen of the same color, and then she sleeps.

~Now~

Hands clench into the soft, heavenly fluff of a blanket. More searingly, a sound of curtains being thrown open burn light straight into the eye and has Kasagami gasping and opening her lids. Both arms cover them again as she lets out a surprised and annoyed sound that echoes through the bedroom.

"That's possibly the least royal sound I've heard in my entire life, my little hawk." Comes a voice that is close yet distant, nostalgic yet faded by the ravages of time. A half remembered voice from what seems like eons ago, but is a simple handful of years. Kasagami stills, leaning into the plush of her bed, and slowly blinks as the searing daystar filtering in from outside is made less punishing as her good eye adjusts.

"Who...what is going..."

Realization slowly sinks in, but too slow for the other person in the room. The sound of something heavy kicks wood. It's an impatient sound, offered in a smooth rhythm before suddenly going quiet. Hands reach, and throw off a soft blanket onto the floor with far more drama and motion than needed. It audibly hits the ground as a door lightly creaks. Cough.

"It's just about time. The coronation starts in..." Comes a stern, masculine but quiet voice. There's a pause.

A barely contained sigh escapes the man's mouth. Another light cough. "...You still have much to learn, little King. I will be waiting. I love you, Kassie. Good luck." With an eye roll, he walks out of the room, the man's gait easy and his face stoic. Almost. He can't help but uplift the corners of his mouth before wincing as the sound of a body hitting a slightly softened wooden floor by way of blanket and a sudden inverting of the world by Kasagami's still sleepy sensations.

The jolt has her awake, and she stares into the face of someone she dared not dream to see again. Steel grey eyes bore into her grey-and-white with intensity, anger, love and joy all at the same time. She's being shaken by her collar, and finally her brain catches up with shock and sleepiness.

Her throat feels dry all of a sudden. "...Mom? Wait. What's going on? How are you here!?" Starts Kasagami, confusion and fear mixing in her mind before the woman that just tossed her out of bed stops her violent waking of the younger woman. They're spitting images of each other, with the exception of Kasagami's injuries and the older woman's lines and other signs of age. Suddenly Kasagami is pulled into a tight, warm hug.

"Don't be stupid, my little bird. Of course I'm here on your most important day. You won. You fought so hard, you suffered, but now you have your dream. Maybe that last sword fight gave you a bump on the head. Every one of your loyal servants are here too, ready to help you become the ruler you've always wanted to be, Kassie."

Kasagami's mother, tall, strong, and confident, yanks up her daughter, kisses her on the forehead, and then turns around.

"...And we're here for you, with what we've learned in our lives, Kassie." Pause. Frown.

Kassie's mother scowls and points at the door.

"EVEN THE EAVESDROPPING IDIOT FATHER OF YOURS!" Kasagami's father pokes his head in, stoic, but still with that smile.

"A man of the Araki household would never be so sneaky. ...Also little hawk, your knights are awaiting your presence this morning. Tokyo waits with baited breath as you gain the crown. I believe Mikoto-chan was eager for a sparring match before the festivities. And...something she called 'feline motion training'." The man just shrugs. Kassie's mother just eye rolls and starts to say something sarcastic.

"Lady Tomoe, Dame Shimanouchi, Squire Universe and Umokeshi..." The names rattle off constantly, and finally Kasagami feels awake and whole.

She still feels rattled, but the young woman stands. So many names, so many loyal hearts, and here she is dragged out of bed. Kasagami cuts off her Father with tears in her eyes. She reaches, hugs her Mother from behind tight about the waist, and looks to her Father with pure joy. For some reason? She can't tell why but this feels like a reunion, even as she brushes it all off as the effects of a dream.

"I'm sorry. I just...had a nightmare. I'd lost both of you. I lost a...very important, powerful, wonderful enemy. A world where /I/ lost status and respect in the adult world and withou..." The elbow comes lightly.

"Shhh. It was just a nightmare. Come on. You have your Queens and Prince waiting too." Jab jab jab annoyingly. Kasagami's Father turns, makes a brief motion, and then addresses a certain purple haired servant amidst the Araki Family's estate workers. It's a brief conversation, and light flickers across a pair of large glasses upon the dark skinned young woman's face. She smiles, docile, obedient, and yet quietly offers suggestions.

The older Araki dame ignores how Kasagami sheds tears, pressing into her back and holding her as though she might slip into sand.

"Come on, a King shouldn't be shaken by a simple nightmAAAAAAH!"

Kasagami Araki grins like a madwoman, pulls back, and the sound of a body being suplexed into the bed ends in a tangle of limbs, laughter, and a single proclamation!

"Tell Mikoto-chan I'll be late! Face the wrath of a King, oh Head of the Araki School of Swordsmanship for turning your back on an opponent! Royal Suplex Technique, goooooo!" Proclaims Kasagami, and soon Mother and Daughter have fallen off the bed after a long round of tickles, roughhousing, and early morning insults.

Kassie lets out a happy sigh. She's attained her dreams. And all of those she loves is near and loyal to her. She'd have it no other way.
