Character Guidelines
The Prismatic Infinity Carat has seven gems representing the seven qualities of an ideal person: Ruby Vigor (Strength), Garnet Resolution (Tenacity), Topaz Bravery (Courage), Emerald Psyche (Intellect), Sapphire Vision (Imagination), Lapislazuli Affinity (Empathy) and Amethyst Ambition (Aspirations). The Amethyst character is Uraut, currently a villain. Barring that, any gem that is not already taken can be used as concept for a character. This character should, in some way, exemplify the virtue represented by their gem, and their magical girl name is Kaleidragoon [Gem].
Additionally, each character is partners with a dragon, the dragon they contracted with. This dragon should represent the character's chief quality too, and the character should take care of it with love and tenderness, and make sure it doesn't get in trouble, because their bond with it is the souce of their powers. In particular, losing the dragon (Through kidnapping, straying or, Queen Serenity forbid it, death) would make the magical girl powers unaccessible!
The observant person may realize that the gemstones are arranged like the colors of the rainbow. This is intentional. The gemstones represent not only chief qualities of an ideal person, but also the prismatic unity of all people to make an ideal society.
Gender
While Altago has dragon riders of all genders, Kaleidragoons can only be female. The Kaleidragoons do not necessarily contain the memories of the seven heroines from the Golden Age of Altago, but tradition states that the guardians of the Prismatic Infinity Carat can only be girls, since the heroines upon which the gems are based were girls. Thus, the eggs of the new guardian dragons will only bond with females.
Characters based on high ranked constructs or Jaegerwurms can be of any gender.
Romantic inclinations do not matter as long as they are handled in a tasteful way.
Henshin and Powers
All Kaleidragoons transform by way of the brooch that is the crystallized contract between them and their draconic partner. By holding the brooch up in the sky and shouting "[GEM] DRAGON BOOST!" (e.g: TOPAZ DRAGON BOOST), the magic begins! First off, their dragon partner grows up from a small, cute, Pokémon-ish critter to a big, badass dragon with wings. The dragon then inhales deeply and breathes energy on the girl, which solidifies into a suit of armor. The armor can be anything that suits the player's tastes, as long as it is tasteful, cool and has a JRPG flavor. At the end, you shout an introductory phrase, which must include "Kaleidragoon [Gem]! Ryujin!" at the end.
Your civilian identity is a secret to everyone who is not an Altagian dragon rider or some other kind of magical girl or boy. There is no exception to this rule. Also, while changing into the armor does not normally include any other kind of physical change, changes to hair color or some other subtle alteration may be allowed as long as they are thematically appropriate with the character.
On the subject of powering up, two ugrades are planned:
- The first one will take place after all seven gems of the Prismatic Infinity Carat are recovered. After an adequately dramatic moment in which you demonstrate you are a paragon of the quality your gem represents, the gem will resonate with your soul and allow you to channel its power, becoming your new Artifact. At this point, you can shout "[PRISMATIC INFINITY GEM]! NOVA DRAGON BOOST!" (e.g: TOPAZ BRAVERY! NOVA DRAGON BOOST!) and take your Nova Kaleidragoon form with a shiny, cooler armor and a bigger, stronger, more badass-looking dragon by your side, as well as a change to your introductory phrase (e.g: Nova Kaleidragoon Topaz! Ryujin!).
- The second upgrade will take place after all the pieces of the Prismatic Infinity Carat are recovered and the crown is fully rebuilt. When the Kaleidragoons demonstrate the they can synergize their qualities into an invincible prismatic unity and that the bonds with their dragons are deep and unbreakable, the gems will begin channeling the Prismatic Infinity Carat's power. At this point, by shouting "[PRISMATIC INFINITY GEM]! INFINITY DRAGON BOOST!" (e.g: TOPAZ BRAVERY! INFINITY DRAGON BOOST!), you can adopt your Infinity Kaleidragoon form by actually fusing with your dragon partner and becoming an amalgam of human and dragon.
Your attacks are related in some way with the gem you represent. For example, topaz is sometimes related with lightning, so Mayuko's attacks are electric in nature. As another example for a potential character, rubies are often related with fire, and sapphires and lapislazulis, with water and ice. Impossibly cool weapons are welcome and encouraged.
Finishers involving your dragon are fine, but at least one of them must be performed by the magical girl alone with no direct assistance. Indirect assistance, like your dragon helping you move around, is okay. This finisher also must have an incantation of some sort.
If all characters agree to it, we could see to proposing a Team attack for the main characters, most probably a Finisher.
History and Backstories
A Kaleidragoon will make her entrance into the world of magical girls when, one morning, right after waking up, she finds a huge gemstone concordant with the gem they represent, shaped like an egg. This egg will hatch after a few minutes into a dragon which will probably have the color of their gem, although this is not necessary. The dragon will then state its reason for being there (That mission being, recovering the fragments of the Prismatic Infinity Carat and repairing the crown back to its former glory) and make a contract with the girl. When this contract is signed, the dragons of the other girls will receive the instinctive signal of one of their own having awakened, and an adequately dramatic first meeting will be held.
The Paths to Power for the Kaleidragoons are Artifact (Dragon Brooch) and Contract (With a dragon, to recover and repair the Prismatic Infinity Carat and protect people from the forces of chaos)
Needless to say, if you want to include any of the Kaledragoon girls into your background, you should first talk it over with them!
Theme Basis
Dragon Saint Kaleidragoon is a series about greatness and excellency, as well as about the importance of unity in times of crisis, and about how much and how greatly a person can mature when she takes on the responsibility of taking care of a pet and forming a bond of friendship with it.
Theme Villains
The villains are incomplete beings who have had their chief quality perverted by the influence of the evil god Masterion. For example, Strength becomes Force, Courage become Foolhardiness, Empathy becomes Smothering, Aspirations become Obsessions, and things like that. When this happens to humans, they become a type of Youma called Construct, creatures obsessed with filling their void in some way, to no avail. When it happens to dragons, they become Jaegerwurms, wild beasts who seek to impose their empty state on everything around them. While Constructs and Jaegerwurms seek exactly the same (To cope with their incompleteness and mediocrity), they do so in fundamentally different ways: While a Construct would seek to kidnap people and force them to love him, a Jaegerwurm would try to make everyone as empty of love as him by making their bonds decay or taking away their loved ones.
The ultimate goal of these beings, however, is to recover the Prismatic Infinity Carat and use its power to resurrect their lord, Masterion.
Here follow the main antagonists of Dragon Saint Kaleidragoon. If you wanna make a new one, please talk it over with Mayuko Kuonji's player before starting work on them.
- Masterion: An ancient evil with the shape of an enormous dragon that could crush stars beneath its claws. It was defeated by queen Io in the past, but could not be permanently destroyed. He is currently sleeping on a magical plane, awaiting its reincarnation. Its influence is turning the people of Altago into Constructs and Jaegerwurms.
- Uraut: A young girl who was persuaded by Masterion to join his cause. She tried to steal the Prismatic Infinity Carat with the help of a magic wand carved from Masterion's bones, but only managed to get her hands on the Amethyst Ambition. She is currently supervising the reconstruction of Masterion's fortress and sending Constructs and Jaegerwurms to Earth with the orders of recovering the crown's fragments.
