Title: Teens Being Studious
Summary: Ren invites Endo over for a study session in preparation for the dreaded beast known as finals. Spoiler Alert: There's a kiss involved!

It's that time again. With midterms defeated, the final boss of the school year is upon the horizon. And Ren aims to be ready to conquer it -- hence why she's invited Endo over to her house for a study session. Or perhaps it's more fitting to see it as a "study date". They hadn't decided on a time to go to the amusement park together yet, clashing schedules getting in the way and making things difficult. But now with finals threatening to hit them harder than any youma or similar summoned beast of pure evil, that's pretty much fallen by the wayside. For now, at least.

Ren's laid out some snacks for the both of them, establishing both the living room and the kitchen as their base. None of the snacks are particularly healthy, and perhaps she's overdone it with the sugar /but/ they are without a doubt yummy as all get out.

"So! Where should we start?" She scoots close to him with a smile.

Endo doesn't usually put a lot of focus on his studies, despite their importance. Running around fighting evil takes a lot of work, and evil doesn't care how well you know your biology, or that one year one guy was the shogun and the next year some other guy was. So he probably needs all the help he can get. Plus, he gets to hang out with Ren! So how could he say no.

The snacks distract him almost immediately, the boy taking time before the studying starts to nibble as he examines the books set out on the table.

"Where do you think is good?" She's supposed to be smart, she should know! "I don't really need help with math, that's always pretty easy."

"Hmm!" They could agree that Math was not something to worry about, at least. "History? I know dates are easy to get mixed up. And when you're trying to finish an exam under pressure..." Total nightmare. "So we can start there!"

She reaches over to grab a book -- and a cupcake -- which she proceeds to flip open in search of the most important pieces of material that could show up on the test. "How's your mother, Endo-kun?"

Cupcakes are good. He tries one of those too, asking, "Did you make all this stuff?" He seems impressed. Not that he's a bad cook, but maybe he should ask Ren to make him more things. He nibbles for a second, then replies, "She's doing alright. I think she's worried about me being out all the time. Do you ever have that problem?"

He leans forward, scooping up paper and pencil for notes. I was actually kind of nervous coming here. I didn't know if your parents would be here."

"Oh it was no trouble to make all of this. Really. It's nothing at all!" The spread she's laid out says otherwise. Modest Ren strikes again. "I'm glad your mom is ok. Ah..." She laughs a bit, rubbing the back of her neck. "Not really. My parents are hardly ever home. So they aren't around to wonder where I am at night. Or see any of my injuries." Yes. It's not a bad thing at all.

"So you don't have to worry about them asking you all kinds of questions, at least. Now if my brother were here..." She trails off, chuckling a bit nervously. "He would want to know all about you."

"Ren-san is a really good cook," Endo chimes, "I feel bad, you always make me these things, and I don't make you anything!" More chewing ensues, and then he turns his attention over to the girl again.

"Ah, really? I guess that's good. But you should try to spend time with them too." Now that Endo is taking his own advice, but Ren should do as he says, not as he does. "And...ah, do any of them know about the thing we're doing? I told my mom I'd be out with you." No pressure.

"Don't! I like doing this." Ren reassures with an eager nod. "It's nice to have someone to cook for. I don't get to do anything like this often." Plus, she's cooking for someone she likes. Which is quite a good feeling!

"No. They don't. I didn't think they needed to know." Ren admits, moving to open up her notebook. "You have nothing to worry about, Endo-kun."

"Well, I wasn't really worried." Not really. He just hopes Ren's parents aren't scary. Or, more accurately, that they'd like him. But that's something to worry about in the future. For now, he has food, and books, and studying to worry about.

Of course, there are still ways he can get out of that. "Have you heard anything from Lera-san? Or anything more about the guy that was chasing you?" The longer he can talk about other things, the less he has to study! And he's concerned about Ren, so it's a win-win.

Yes! There is studying to be done! Ren is all about getting said studying done. Until Endo brings up another topic of conversation. One that causes her to pause just as she places the tip of her pen against the notebook paper.

"Ah... not since the meeting, no. And I haven't seen him anywhere, either." Maybe Jaren's given up? Nah, that would be asking too much. "I just hope he doesn't decide to attack now. Jerks like him always wait for when their targets are busy with other things."

This is clearly why Endo isn't good at studying. Ren will probably regret her decisions soon enough.

"Okay." A nod from Endo. "It'd be better if he did it when I was around." Then he wouldn't have to study. Also he could protect Ren, which is probably more important. "Let me know if you hear anything."

"I will." But really she's hoping she won't have to do that. Though at least having Endo in her corner will make things less rocky.

"And thanks..." She says, taking time to stare at him afterward. Then, without saying anything else, she leans forward to quickly press her lips against his. A modest kiss that doesn't even last three seconds before she pulls away, blushing a furiously. "A-Ah... I'm sorry! I shouldn't have done that!"

"Good!" He seems satisfied with that. He might have gone back to snacking, if Ren hadn't leaned in and-

Kissed him. The boy blinks, his dark eyes widening when her lips touch his. It's a shock! He might even get a little flustered himself. It at least takes a second before he replies, "Ah-Ren-san-I-it's-" Panic! "It's fine?" Well, it is. Even though he's not quite sure what to do next.

"Is it?" She looks skeptical, given his reaction. "I'm sorry!" She doesn't know /what/ came over her. "I shouldn't have... I really... shouldn't have..."

Oh no! What if Endo thinks she goes around kissing random boys like this and calls off the date?! Stupid impulses! Everything is ruined! She looks away from him, biting her bottom lip apprehensively.

Endo seems to take a moment to decide how to deal with it. Not that he minded very much, but it was still kind of a surprise. He nudges his book around, peeking over at the girl across the table. The look of worry on her face is alarming enough that he decides to speak up.

"Ren-san," He notes, hesitating for a second before his lips curl into his usual, silly grin. "Don't worry about it." He reaches across the table, taking the girl's hand and giving it a short squeeze. "It was-ah--nice." A nod. That seems like a good way to describe it.

He takes her hand, and she turns to look at him immediately, looking as though she's on the verge of crying. His words, however, soothe her nerves. Enough for a tiny smile to appear. Yay! Things aren't ruined!

"O-ok Endo-kun... That... was the first time I've ever done that." She clarifies, cheeks still tinted crimson. "I still shouldn't have just done that out of the blue. That kind of thing should be special..."

"Well, I probably should have expected something awkward like that, fron Ren-san." He's teasing her, clearly. It'll help lighten the mood, at least. A second more and his hand releases hers, the boy smiling again before he glances down at the books. "Ah-let's try and study. Okay?"

"But-" He doesn't want to give the completely wrong idea, though, "We can do that again...later...maybe." Probably. Endo coughs, awkwardly picking up a book and offering it out toward Ren with a smile.

His teasing! He's always doing that. Ren laughs a little, some of those nervous feelings starting to fade now. "Right. Let's study. We don't want to end up failing, right?"

When he offers her the book and makes the comment he does, though, she blinks. Oh. "O-of course!" She agrees, taking the book from him with a grin. "We can..." And hopefully it won't be so awkward next time.

...Yeah right!
