"Who you texting?" Haruka is looking over her shoulder. Even lounging on the couch lazily, her broad shoulders give her a certain dignity. Her television is playing a local stock car race that she participated in.

Setsuna's cheeks were a bit red even before Haruka noticed her fiddling with a shiny new iPhone -- maybe that's what drew her friend's attention. Either way, she reddens further and curls a bit in the plush loveseat. The big slouchy sweater she wears helps with that. "Ah..." Heck with it. "Kasagami."

"/Kasagami/." Rich enjoyment. "How is 'Araki-san' doing?" she teases.

She's practically a turtle now, and that isn't even a turtleneck. "Well." Her bangs help, thick and low as they are, but she's peering at Haruka through them. "We, ah..." Her phone pings. Setsuna looks down, smiles, remembers, and goes stone cold sober of expression. "We have a date tomorrow."

Haruka drops the remote, but because she's Haruka, she lunges forward and bats it back up into the air, once, twice, then a catch. Still bent forward, she looks back with a grin. "Setcchan! A date! It was only a matter of time for a famous beauty like you, once you were back from the Gate!"

Like most soldiers, Haruka and Setsuna lived their sore points for so long that they have two modes of talking about them, and one is quite flip and unpainful.

"And it's no surprise that it took someone forceful like that to break through at first. Where are you going?"

"Dinner and a movie. Or, perhaps, a movie and dinner... I haven't yet decided which first." She can't stay stone-faced, not against that grin, and breaks into her own girlish smile. "I hope she likes the classics."

Tap tap tap, go long lacquered nails against the glass of her phone's surface -- not typing, just idly as she thinks. Each interval equals precisely one second. Finally: "It's actually our second date. At least, I think it is. I'm not yet sure if she..." Is there any way to put this, Setsuna thinks, that doesn't sound awkward? "I can't tell, I guess, if she has an interest beyond friendship. Maybe it is too soon to tell."

Haruka stands, stretching arms above her head. Her tank top would make this an entrancing display of muscle for most women, but Setsuna and Haruka are as sisters at this point. "A /second/ date!" This is just delight rather than shock; Haruka's not innocent enough to shock twice about the date topic. She knows better than anyone that no matter how shy and distant a girl may seem, they want to be swept away too...

"If you want to find out, you could go into the bathroom and send her a picture, see how she reacts." Haruka flops down on her back in front of the chair Setsuna is in, cradling the back of her head in her heads to look up at her. "Oh," she says, as if she wasn't aware all along. "But you're talking about romance, I suspect~"

"A-ah, yes, I, well." In for a penny... Setsuna leans forward and peers down, garnet eyes meeting upside down blue.

"To be honest, I don't know. It seems to me I have certain limits to observe." Matter of fact, like the statement that follows. "But it is foolish to act as though tomorrow is a given."

Frustration, now, creases the spot between her eyebrows. "And I just can't /tell/." Setsuna Meioh likes knowing things; she's made it her career. She folds her arms, phone tucked away -- it seems she's done with it for now. "Do I... ask? I don't know what do, Haruka." It'd be a challenge to recall the last time the Guardian of Time sounded quite so plaintive.

"She's a dog, Secchan," Haruka tells her breezily. "You can take that from me, because I'm a dog. She isn't looking to be exclusive with you yet. It's not love at first sight. But I do think you're more than a quick pass, too. I think she wants to see where it goes."

Haruka winks, but her face is sad. "I know that's scary for you. You're used to knowing where everything's going. But that's part of living down here with the rest of us. Things get messy."

For all of her blushing, Setsuna shared this with her friend for a reason. And so she does her best to ignore the heat that keeps washing across her face and pays close attention. Her eyes are a bit round as she takes it all in.

At that last they resume their melancholy cast. "It is." Scary, she means. "She puts me off balance. I say that I do not know what Kasagami wants... Neither do I. Not truly." There's another smile yet to be found, though, and she shares it with Haruka, along with a rare twinkle in her gaze. "Aside from another date.

"So what is your advice? Dinner or movie first?"

Haruka raises an eyebrow. "What kind of movie?"


 <Pose Tracker> Setsuna Meioh [Infinity Institute (U)] has posed.

"I have not seen many, and nothing that would be in theaters, not that that is an issue for my plans. Instead I chose something older, acclaimed, especially for its stunt work. She'll enjoy that, I think." Her smile takes on its more customary mysterious quality. "As I said, a classic."

"Stunt work? Something like Fairbanks or Errol Flynn?" She doesn't probe at the mystery. Her girlfriend is Michiru Kaioh; she's used to it. "In that case, movie first. Dinner's going to be the more romantic part."

Lifting her hand up the front of the chair, Haruka offers it to Setsuna. "And you're safe, okay? If she hurts your feelings, I'll take you out instead. And Michiru will invite her to go swimming and then create a reap tide so she fights for life for a few hours and then drowns slowly. So you'll be okay."

There's a not altogether painful squeezing sensation around Setsuna's heart. These soldiers of the furthest-flung reaches take solace in strange things. Her hand is warm around Haruka's, and her expression is soft before it sharpens to a grin. "I'll be okay." The promised safety is there in the strong clasp of hands. "Maybe Kasagami should be the worried one, hm? Thank you, Haruka."
