Prism Aegis

The Prism Keepers started off as nothing more than a fantasy. Created by Mei Akatsuki for her and her friends, they were simply imaginary heroes that played dress up on weekends and hunted 'youma' (aka annoying boys) in the park. However, one dark day, some very real dark forces noticed the emotional energy radiating from the group, and manipulated its creator until, in a burst of negative emotion, they seized the story's villains and brought them to life! Their mission: steal all the color from the world and turn it into the perfect Grey Kingdom.

Not about to let Tokyo's colors go unprotected, the light rose up and gave life to the heroes of the story, giving Mei the power of Prism Keeper Red and bestowing upon her the Chroma Crystals. Each Crystal holds the very essence of that color, and allows the girl it bonds to to transform into a Prism Keeper as well! There's only one problem. She has to find the people worthy of holding their power, or she'll be the only one standing to fight off the color-stealing Shades.

Character Info

Name: A Prism Keeper's real name should reflect or reference their color somehow, either directly or indirectly. For instance, Mei Akatsuki translates as 'bright red moon.' A villain's name has no restrictions.
Age: All Prism Keepers are 8-12 years old. The only exception is Momo Akatsuki, or Prism Keeper Pink, who is 7.
School: No restrictions on school for most Prism Keepers. Pink and Orange should both go to Juuban, as they have direct relationships with Mei. Other than that, free reign.
Personality: The traits listed next to each Prism Keeper are purely guidelines, and totally negotiable. Do not feel bound to them if they don't inspire you. Same for the villains.
Outfit: Each Prism Keeper has a distinct outfit based on their personal aesthetic. You're free to come up with your own. The only rules are that its primary color has to match your Prism Keeper's color, and its secondary color must be white. Each Prism Keeper also has a pair of small, transparent butterfly wings for flying.
Weapons: In their original henshin, a Prism Keeper's only weapon is their Chroma Wand, a white rod with their Chroma Crystal and some kind of basic decoration on top. This is used for their less-powerful finisher, as well as collecting and redistributing color energy after a battle. For their more powerful finisher, a Prism Keeper uses their Crystal directly, without the Wand.

Transformation Phrase: "Chroma Prism [color]! Transform!"
Finisher 1 Phrase: "Prism Aegis Power! [attack name, preferably including color]!"
Finisher 2 Phrase: "Prism Aegis Power! [color] Chroma [whatever]!" (Note: This finisher should be more powerful than your first one, and should only be used after being unlocked in-character. That can be arranged relatively quickly, however.)
Team Attack Phrase: "Prism Aegis Power! Chroma Palette Blast!" (Note: you do not need to have this attack when you app, but once at least three Prism Keepers are on-game, it is recommended to have.)

Original Characters: At this time, no Prism Keepers not listed under Heroes will be accepted. Original villains are appable, but please message Mei Akatsuki to discuss the concept.
Canon Villains: If you plan on apping Griselda or either of the Monochrome Duo, @mail or page Mei Akatsuki prior to starting your application.

Powers

  • Flight: A Prism Keeper, when transformed, has a small pair of transparent butterfly wings that allow them to fly. This will come easily for some Keepers, and such talent will lend itself to a specialization in melee, dodging, or physical combat. However, knowledge of flight is not necessarily instinctive, so many characters will have to practice before they are accomplished flyers.
  • Color Energy: Your standard magical girl energy attack. These are typically fired from the hands, but more powerful ones can be formed using the Wand.
  • Conjuration: A Prism Keeper is able to summon one object that is typically associated with their color; in game, this is the first object they think of when they think about the color. It can be virtually anything, but if it's something large (like a school bus for Yellow), please limit the number to one at a time. Smaller objects can be created in larger numbers. However, animals are not recommended. This power can be used to a lesser extent outside of transformation and may be a part of a signature attack, if you so choose.
  • Color Infusion: A Prism Keeper's magic leaves a residue of their color on virtually anything it touches. This includes their energy beams as well as the objects they can summon. They can also directly change an object's color by touching it, though unless they learn to control it better, it will always be a very bright hue. When they use their Wand to collect released color energy after a Shade battle, they can release it back into their surroundings all at once.
  • Recognition Inhibition: In their transformed state, Prism Keepers are unrecognizable to anyone who has not seen them transform, or who they have not disclosed their identity to.

Supercharged Henshin Modes

Prism Keepers have two upgraded forms: Vibrant Form and Jewel Form. These can be attained on a temporary basis through at least one other Keeper infusing their power into another (ICly, of course.) When the cast reaches rank B, we will come up with in-character events to explain the permanent power up. It is theoretically possible for a Keeper who receives several power infusions in their original henshin to transform into Jewel Form, but such a thing should be saved for Finale levels of desperation. The standard temporary power-up for the first arc is Vibrant Form, and the details of it will be revealed about midway through the first arc.

Origins

The Path to Power for a Prism Keeper is simply an Artifact: the Chroma Crystal. The specific Crystal that resonates with their personality will bond to them if they come within a few feet of it, and from then on, they will have the power to transform. The Crystal, in the character's base mode, will take on any shape its owner wishes it to, and can be worn as any kind of accessory. It will also teleport back to its owner if it is lost or misplaced, but not if it is stolen by someone who wants to keep it.

If the Chroma Crystal is destroyed, its Keeper will immediately lose all their color and be knocked out for a period of time. When they reawaken, they will be in the zombie-like state that all people who have had their color totally drained enter into, and will remain so unless they receive continuous infusions from other Keepers. In addition, the color of the Crystal that was destroyed will slowly disappear from the world. Like many magical girl artifacts, it can be rebuilt, but only with a sufficiently dramatic Power of Love and Friendship moment.

Mascots

Prism Aegis's mascots Roy, Biv, and Gigi: three shape-shifting, color-shifting birds that detect Shade attacks and instruct the Prism Keepers when they need guidance. Roy typically presents as a cardinal, Biv as a bluebird, and Gigi as a green bird hatchling. Each of them can take human form as well. Currently, Roy and Biv are acting as Mei and Momo's parents since their mother disappeared, but they will naturally do their best to help any of the Prism Keepers with whatever they need.

Tone

Prism Aegis does not set out to be especially dark; rather, its purpose is to realistically depict the thoughts and feelings of normal girls thrust into a fantastical situation. Thus, how much happiness vs. suffering a character experiences is largely up to the player. There is nothing inherently exploitative or terrifying about being a Prism Keeper, but all the same, they are preteens and children who face combat on a regular basis, sometimes risking their lives. Cast members are encouraged to depict that reality and sell the threats that their character faces, while still occasionally giving their girl a break in the form of typical magical girl show antics.
