Adrien awoke with something heavy on his chest. He tries to ignore it, but a frequent paw batting his cheek makes it impossible. With a grunt, he opens his eyes to see a black cat glaring at him.
Adrien frowns at it, but then smiles as he reaches over to scratch it’s ears. “Morning, Plagg. Want breakfast?”
His cat purrs as he leans into his hand until he dashes away and meows at him.
“Right, right, I’ll get you food,” Adrie replies as he goes to get dress and heads down to breakfast.
With Plagg close at his heels, Adrien goes into the kitchen and stops. He expected to see Natalie pouring coffee, but it’s not her. It’s a tall slender blonde woman who had eyes that matched his own.
The woman sipped her coffee and turned to Adrien with a smile. “Morning, Sweetheart. Did you sleep well?”
Adrien blinked. Something was off. What was it? He shook his head. Naw, it was probably. Just half asleep.
“I did, Mom,” he said as he goes over and gives her a tight hug.
His mother laughs as she sets down her coffee and hugs him back. “Well, you’re extra affectionate this morning.”
Adrien lingered in the hug before he let go. “Just felt like it.”
They stare at each other warmly until a meow causes them to look down at the black cat glaring at them.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll get you food,” Adrien said as he went to the cabinet.
“But no cheese,” his mother scolded as Plagg gave a grumpy meow. “I know you like it, but it’s bad for your digestion.”
“Not to mention your stinky farts,” Adrien said.
Plagg pouted as Adrien opened a can of tuna and held it out for him.
“You best hurry up,” his mother said as she looked to the clock. “You don’t want to be late for school.”
“Yeah, I’m going to grab some breakfast with Nino. We want to get there early for our science project,” Adrien replied and frowned, “and also-”
“Your going to the arcade with Mariette tonight,” his mother laughed and nodded. “I remember. Just head to her home afterwards, and I’ll come pick you up.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Adrien replied.
Going to play games with one of his best friends. What more could a guy ask for?
“Oh, which reminds me,” his mother said as he brought up her phone. “Chloe called and told me to tell you she can’t come over tomorrow. It seems the animal shelter needed emergency volunteers.”
Adrien smiled and shook his head. That was girl was always off doing something. Last week she was volunteering at the homeless shelter and then went to a fundraiser for the unfortunate otters society.
“With that said,” his mother replied with a grin. “Your father is going to take the day off tomorrow.”
Adrien’s eyes widened. “He is?”
“Yes, and we’re going to spend a lovely day together,” she said as she kissed Adrien on the cheek. “Anyway, don’t let me keep you. I know you have to go.”
Adrien kissed her cheek back. “I do, but I’ll see you later, Mom.”
“Take care,” she said and waved. “I love you, sweet heart.”
“Love you too, Mom,” Adrien waved back before he raced out of the kitchen.
