Title: Prelude To A Magical Date
Summary: Endo and Ren go look at fish. In the midst of all this fish-watching, the inevitable finally rises to the surface.

Endo is usually busy doing stuff, be he does try to make time for his friends now and then. One of which is Ren, who is important. She even gave him chocolates, which is something he should probably deal with. Once he figures out how, and what that means, and all other things relating to Aizawa related mysteries. Step one has been to invite Ren out to the aquarium, where there are fish, which people seem to like.

Their stroll takes them through the outer area, down into the underwater tunnels and subdued lighting. Endo is tapping the glass as they move, sending schools of fish scurrying along. "Don't you wonder what all of these guys taste like? Whenever I come to places like this I get hungry. They should serve all these things at the restaurant." Maybe he doesn't understand what aquariums are for.

A trip to the aquarium to see all the lovely species of marine life? How sweet! Ren is all excited when she meets up with Endo and they proceed into the building proper. It doesn't take long for Ren to have her face nearly pressed up against the glass, watching the fish in the tanks swim around without a car in the world. It must be really nice...

They go into one of the underwater tunnels soon enough -- which really are the best feature of the entire place. Being surrounded on all sides by so many colorful fish is like a dream come true. It makes her yearn for summer so trips to the beach could be a reality.

"Endo-kun, you /would/ think of something like that." She says in response to her companion's statement, turning to give him a smile. "Though fish /can/ be pretty tasty..."

"Fish were made to be eaten. Some of them look nice, but it really only matters if they taste nice." He gives this lecture with a firm nod, the young man smiling toward his companion as they wander down the hall. "I was trying to think of a better place to go. I thought about Yokohama and the big Ferris Wheel, but I didn't want to go all the way out there. And we're always standing on top of tall things anyway."

"What places do you like to go?" He turns, tilting back toward Ren, fish ignored for now.

"Not all of them." But ok, she gets what he means. Her diet does have a lot of seafood in it. As they move further through the tunnel talk turns to alternative meeting spots he considered. "Ferris wheels are fun though! I would've been alright with that." But the aquarium was /obviously/ the better choice. His point however about them always being up high on things made her giggle. Fair enough. She wouldn't argue against that.

"Quiet spots are always good." She provides an answer to him after observing a pufferfish. Ren turns to face him with a shrug. "I know that's a pretty easy thing to figure out if you know me. I do like the amusement park too, though. Even if it can get a bit crowded."

"Well, of course you'd like those." Endo waves his hand, as if he'd figured that out already. "Or arcades. Which aren't very quiet." He's not paying much attention to the wall and the fish behind, leaving them in peace. One of them, a blue creature with a particular long face, floats somewhere over his right shoulder. They bear a striking similarity.

"I just wanted to figure out a place you'd like. Since I owe you. For the chocolates." The boy's lips purse, eyes slanting off to the side. "I mean, we hang out together a lot, don't we? It'd be good to know. For future reference." That's totally it, just good to know.

Ren nods... then spots the fish hovering behind him. The resemblance! It's enough to make her start to giggle, hand covering her mouth. Eventually she regains her composure -- mostly. A sly smile is still there. Hah!

"That's fair." She replies, dropping her hand back down by her side. "We /do/ hang out a lot..." How observant of him to point that out. People probably thought they were more than just friends. The thought has occurred to Ren more than once -- though she doesn't bring it up because of reasons. "I'm really glad you're considerate enough to ask that..."

Endo doesn't seem to notice the fish. Which is probably for the best, since he's talking about serious things!

"Well, you know, I like hanging out with you. You turned out to be a much more interesting person than I ever thought you would be." Endo beams, apparently not realizing that might not be the best compliment he can give Ren. He seems to think it's pretty good, though. "It's been pretty nice, having you around. I can tell you all the stuff I can't tell anyone else."

Ren is happy he doesn't notice. Because serious things are being discussed! Yep!

Her cheeks tint red at Endo's words. Oh wow. No one has ever told her anything like that before. "I feel the same way." She admits, stepping a little closer to him, hands folded in front of her. Oddly enough she doesn't feel nervous... but /should/ she be, though? It's Endo! He's a really cool guy! "There aren't many people we can share the secret parts of our lives with. I'm glad we can be that person for one another..."

"Right." Endo agrees. His head bobs up and down again, the boy crossing arms in front of himself. He turns his head to peer at the fish again, noting idly the Endo-like amphibian as it passes by. He must not see the resemblance. Or he's too busy being serious.

"So-ah. This is really" How awkward. It's not like he's never talked to girls before, but this is a bit different. He's also supposed to be too busy and responsible for dumb stuff like this. "Ren-san, do you want to go to Yokohama, later?"

He pauses. That might make it seem like every other time they hang out, so he clarifies: "I mean, like, on a date. We can get ice cream. Or something." Another pause. "When I'm not busy with work." He adds that last part in hastily, as if that's important for some reason.

She can tell something profound is about to be laid out from the way Endo is sort of struggling with his words. Without realizing it she leans in with anticipation, eyes trained solely on him the whole time. But hey, no pressure!

And out it comes. A date. /A date./ She's quiet for awhile, her face passive to the point of worry. Would Endo be rejected? What if she wants to remain just friends? Oh noooooo.

"I'd love to, Endo-kun!"

Welp. Turns out there's nothing to worry about. No boundaries have been overstepped. In fact, she looks suddenly eager. Hey Endo, perhaps you should've asked her out sooner than now, idiot!

Endo's eyes kind of slant toward the side during Ren's silence, in a most suspicious fashion. As if he expects her to go running, or something. When she responds affirmatively, though, he flashes her a bright smile. "Oh, good." Whew! That clears that up.

"Maybe we can do that in a few weeks," He offers, pleased smile remaining on his face. "There's lots of stuff we can do other there, I just need some time to get things together."

He leans backward, a puff of air escaping from his lips. "I'm glad you feel the same way. I wasn't sure if you were just being weird with the chocolates."

Ren nods along with what he's saying. She would rather do it sooner... but if he wants time to plan she's more than willing to give it to him. The fact that this will be her first date in... well, /ever/, means she'll need some time to prepare too. So. Yeah.

"That all sounds fine." She's going to have to buy something nice to wear, too! Her current wardrobe is nice but something as significant as a first date requires a really special outfit.

"Weird?" Ren echoes, scratching the side of her face sheepishly. "I guess I sort of showed my true feelings when I did that, huh?" No matter how much she tries to tell herself the chocolate was purely platonic... Yeah. No. Not the case.

"Well, I had to ask, but you kind of did. It worked out for the best though, right?" Endo beams again, turning back toward the tunnel ahead. "Come on, let's go see the shark. Then we can get something to eat, I'm still kind of hungry." He offers a hand to Ren, which is the first time he's really done that. Most of the time he just lets her drag him around with only minor complaint.

"Look," He points out along the way, "This fish looks like Ren-san." Point.

"Right." Ren confirms, beaming right back at him. The fuzzy feeling in her stomach is new in relation to Endo. And nice. Really nice. She can certainly get used to it. "And alright! I hear the shark is pretty big." Indeed, it was one of the main attractions. Ren wonders how big its teeth are as she moves close to Endo to take his hand without a second thought. She even gives it a squeeze as they walk off. /Oh my./

"What? No it doesn't!" Ren protests with a look of confusion when Endo declares her resemblance to one of the fish. Then, she looks closer. "Oh. It does. Huh. That's odd!"

And then there's much laughter. Aww.
